Massage Therapy

AutumnBridge Hospice is the only hospice in central Oklahoma with two full-time massage therapists on staff.

For our patients, massage therapy optimizes comfort care, compliments traditional pain management techniques, and decreases anxiety.

Our massage therapy program also serves as a resource for relieving anxiety and stress for our patients' family members and primary caregivers.

Facts on massage therapy:

  • A study conducted by The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast found that massage therapy reduces pain by 52%, reduces anxiety by 53%, and improves peacefulness by 52% for hospice patients.
  • In a study conducted by the American Massage Therapy Association, 93% of respondents agreed that massage therapy can be effective in reducing pain.
  • Researchers at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center found that massage therapy reduced cancer patients levels of anxiety 52%, pain 40%, fatigue 41%, depression 31%, and nausea 21%.
