Volunteers were the first trailblazers to bring the hospice movement to our country. By providing
neighbor-to-neighbor care, they created and staffed the first hospice programs.
Today, almost every American has access to hospice care, and millions of volunteers still give their time to assist those facing a terminal illness. They are the heroes of hospice.
Volunteers play a vital role in meeting the needs of our patients and their families. They serve as companions for our patients and assist families in the day-to-day care of their loved ones. Volunteers also work on our bereavement team and help in our office. For more information, see how volunteers help. |
